Canon PowerShot A2000IS Review
The dream is come true for those who wait for mega zoom digital compact camera. Canon just released Canon PowerShot A2000IS with 6x optical zoom lens or 36 to 216 mm (35mm equivalents). Distance object can now look close and focus in quite good pictures when enlarged, especially in maximum resolution, 10 megapixel.
Image Stabilizer
Shaking hands effects can be minimized with the PowerShot A2000IS Image Stabilizer feature (This is the meaning of the series is ending A2000IS camera. IS= Image stabilizer). There are three options for this image stabilizer feature: continuous (always on), shot only (only when the button is pressed shutter) and panning (when the track moving subjects).
The IS system now also supported by the motion sensor technology that can count the camera or sub-ject movement. The ISO will up in certain level (80 – 800) without causing too much noise If activated in the auto mode high ISO. When this feature activated, we can use the lower shutter speed to make a sharper image. Unfortunately this continuous mode will make battery power end quickly.
Automatic Store
Like PowerShot A series, this 2000IS can be operated easily. Almost all features completely automated, so we do not need to set the white balance for example. Just turn dial mode icon to the photo situation to take the picture. What you need to do is set the image resolution!
Just turn the dial mode to the Kids and Pets mode for photographing children and pet animals that are often moving, for example. Want to take pictures at night? Turn the dial mode to the Night Shot mode. Need to take pictures in the room? Play Mode Dial similar to the ice cream image (Indoor Mode), so you do not need to fuss manually turn the flash.
There are also SCN mode that presenting a selection of Night Scene, Sunset, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium, and ISO 3200. Need to move the recording scene (the movie)? Turn the dial mode to Movie Camera mode. There, you can still choose between standard or compact feature.
For beginners, this camera also equipped with Easy (red heart icon on the Mode Dial). All things have been set in this mode. The only thing you need to do is to enabling / disabling the flash unit. The flash itself now is faster than previous PowerShot series, which is about 4 seconds back time.
Manual control
Even all things almost automatically, this Canon PowerShot A2000IS still promote the manual control (precisely 11 pieces). All menus clearly identified. Focus and flash options can be accessed directly on the navigation circle. Press the top / bottom of the circle to set the ISO speed of the viewfinder or burst / continuous.
A submenu – to determine exposure compensation, white balance, image effects, metering and image size / quality – will appear if the key Function / Set pressed. If you like, the Print / Share printer icon can be set as a shortcut to exposure compensation.
Self Responsive
Is this camera responsive? The camera is ready to use approximately 1.5 seconds after the on button is pressed. It takes 4 seconds to reach maximum zoom. The focus quickly enough in the sufficient light conditions.
The Canon A2000IS has also Face Detect feature to detect the human face. Up to nine faces can be recognized as long as the face is not facing toward to the side. In this camera, Face Detect feature more accessible. No need to enter in the menu, because a shortcut key in has been provided in camera special panel. To activate or turn off features Face Detect, simply press the button which is located at the top of the left circle Func menu (right at the top of the paper ISO).
The A 2000IS shooting quality is good enough. There’s no red eyes effect. Noise is absent at ISO 80 and 100, but began to attend at up next ISO. The color results looks soft like usual at Canon camera. Night shooting result also quite good and the macro can be operated on 1 cm distance from the subject.
A pair of Alkaline batteries can survive for up to 150 shooting (JPG), plus one minute AVI video clips when we try. Use of Alkaline batteries can be other plus point because it’s cheap and easily obtained anywhere. However, use rechargeable battery would be wise choice if you change the batteries too often (make Alkaline batteries as a backup).
Canon PowerShot A2000IS is certainly fun for beginner users. It has long zoom optic, sharp macro fea-ture, quite slim body, and easily operational. It also has quite good image result. The camera will be better If the flash-charging it can more quickly.
PLUS: Easy operational; Sharp macro; IS facilities; shooting good quality; 6X zoom.
MINUS: LCD in the blazing sun is less bright; optical zoom is not active in the movie mode; without the grip; SD 32MB connatural.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA. Three months and mine has stopped working due to a lens error and Canon wants me to pay for shipping to repair it. It has not been dropped and treated with kid gloves. Flash and photo download to SD card are very slow.
