Disney Launches Children Netbook

The Disney launches Netpal, a low-cost children netbook designed especially for little demanding tasks like surfing the internet and email.

Goes on sale at Toys R Us stores in the United States and Canada, and on Amazon.com in late July. However the company also intends to sell Netpal in international markets like Europe and Asia by the end of this year.

The decision of the company occurs while toy manufacturers like Mattel Inc, Hasbro Inc, and retailers such as Toys R Us, point to the demand for cheaper toys, due to a crisis. According to many analysts, sell toys available will be the best bet for this year to attract buyers.

It is the first attempt by Disney to sell a laptop in North America, and comes five years after the largest entertainment conglomerate United States tried to enter the market for personal computers using a at $ 1000  desktop, according to Disney.

The current scope of the company in the electronic segment includes products such as children’s television with the theme Pirates of the Caribbean and High School Musical, DVD players, karaoke, video games, radio-alarm clocks and portable music equipment.

However, weak consumer spending has beaten the business license of the unit of consumer goods, which presented a 9 percent drop in sales and a 24 percent decline in operating profit in second fiscal quarter.
