Fujitsu FUTRO S100, A Thin Client That Consumes Little Power

The Fujitsu S100 FUTRO consumes just 29 watts at full capacity. Approximately 66% less than the so-called Green PC with monitor, computers that seek to minimize the environmental impact by reducing energy consumption, among others. That translates into cost savings for businesses, something that is not nothing wrong with the times.

This is achieved with the introduction of computer models based on a virtual server solutions and work in remote mode. For what it is not necessary in any way, computers with powerful processors and massive storage capacities. Models are already being used in insurance companies, call centers, banks, schools, libraries and other businesses that want to maximize the number of computers under limited budgets.

To this end, Fujitsu FUTRO S100 uses an architecture developed by VIA Technologies, which employs a so-called ultra low power processor Ultra Low Voltage VIA Eden 500 MHz Since all of your work depends on a network server with great processing power and where the software is hosted, requires no greater benefits.

So much so that the thin client processor is backed by 1 GB of DDR2 RAM and a single VIA Chrome9 HC3 graphics card that sends the signal to the monitor via a VGA port. Conunto also accompanied by a flash memory as its storage media, without actually being a solid storage drive, or SSD, in itself.

Little more need in a matter of connections. Besides a pair of USB 2.0 ports inevitably accompanies the Ethernet interface to connect to the network. Something fundamental. On the other hand, given its small size, Fujitsu takes good example of the domestic market nettops facilitating the assembly of thin client on the back of the monitor.

Fujitsu FUTRO The S100 is compatible with Linux systems eLux, VMware, Citrix and Windows CE 6.0. Although so far Fujitsu did not provide data on their release date or selling prices, are expected to appear in coming weeks.
