Sony Vaio P Review
The Vaio P is Sony effort to enter the ultra light world. The brand has been much emphasis on the machine and should not be compared to a normal netbook that used cheaper components and sinple construction. P has a very nice, a very bright screen with high resolution, premium components and a much higher price, but it is impossible not to put them in same category, in the end will be used for the same.
In many ways, the Vaio P is the best and worst of a laptop. Let me explain:
The Good
- The construction of the hardware is impressive, the materials are good, the shape is striking and the weight is minimal.
- 1.3-megapixel Webcam.
- GPS.
- Internal 3G modem.
- 802.11 b / g / n.
- The keyboard.
- Screen 1600×768.
The Bad
- Windows Vista.
- Atom Z530 processor, apparently is not fast enough for Windows Vista.
- Video card enough to play decent video quality.
- The 8-inch screen is too small for such high resolution (1600×768).
Using the Sony Vaio P
At first two or three hours using the equipment you’ll realize that Sony vaio P is not built for work. It is not fast enough to install and use applications at the same time as high resolution makes it impossible to work in half Documents , let alone in spreadsheets, I was blind.
Then I use it for items less productive and more fun: watch TV series. The first thing I did was copy an episode in 720p 24, Whereas the resolution of 1600×768 pixels, figured it might take a good video in HD.
Ie unfeasible. Not able to play videos in either 720p or other smaller sizes. It is unclear whether the problem is the processor, the video card or Windows Vista. The problem is that this level of performance for me I found all the evidence that came to do: using common software (instant messaging, Tweetdeck, Google Chrome, Safari, Spotify, etc.). Not only is the slow, the problem is caused by combining a tiny screen with a resolution so high
Navigating a little forums and blogs, the first recommendation made was to change the operating system Windows 7, I contacted the Sony PR agency that sent the test unit and asked me to please not change the operating system because it is final and because it is a problem that may restore the original state of the machine (P Vaio and this will surely be used by other people that I would in their original state), so I can not give you my impressions of its use with a apparently more decent operating system.
Conclusions
I feel very strong that a notebook PC that costs about $ 1000 U.S. dollars have performance problems out of the box, the overall impression is that Sony made a mistake and it is best to install Windows 7 and the audience is led to suspect that the machine Most have no idea how to do this.
My recommendation? save more than half the cost and go for an Acer Aspire One or MSI Wind. I promise that I appreciate.
